I wouldn't touch an EV1-type car with a ten foot pole because you can't take it on a trip. But the Volt can go anywhere, whether it's a normal day when I drive less than 40 miles , or if I decide to drive coast-to-coast. I'm willing to pay $50,000 for the Volt when it comes out because it, unlike a hybrid which has a bigger carbon footprint than a Hummer, will get me where I need to go 90% of the time without using any gas at all.
