Dead Volt repaired...not 12v but Power Inverter Module

For those of you wondering the outcome of my "dead" volt, it was not the 12v battery. The Power Inverter Module had to be replaced. Funny thing, it took a bit longer to repair due to the flooding in Detroit area: computers at dealership couldn't communicate with computers in Detroit in order to diagnosis the problem.

I got the impression it was an expensive warranty repair.

The labor is what makes it pricey, not the cost of parts. As future cars become more electric and less gas, servicing cost will drop, because more parts will become uniform in design and construction, so parts cost will also drop, and wit the factory service manual, EVs will be easier to service by DIYers than computers.

Hello kkroll,

Thank you for updating us all. I think the flooding set everyone here in Detroit back a bit. Thankful that crazy experience is done and over with! Glad to hear your Volt is back in action.
