I admit, I did not do an energy requirement for this system but It would be interesting to see both of them done. I bet your evacuated system will require a massive amount of energy to achieve and maintain this vacuum. Massive.

Sure, no harm in brainstorming and running numbers. The pumping losses of a balanced system is like those in an HVAC system. If we evacuate the tubes, we can generate incredible speeds and recoup the energy in deceleration. The ability to meet or beat the speeds of airplanes will make the project viable.
