So, after lots of discussion with my wife about a personalized tag for our new Volt, I went into the tag office the other day to take the plunge. We decided on "Plug Me In" without the spaces of course. When I got the form I found out that I could only have 7 characters instead of the 8 that I thought I could have...bummer. OK, no big deal, I will just use the "N" by itself at the end to signify the word "IN". I filled out the form and wrote the check and the lady comes back from her supervisor and she is beat red in the face and says that the state may regect the request. I was completely at a loss. I explained that it was for an electric car and while understanding, she still stated that it might run into problems. She encouraged me to go ahead with the application and see what they said.
After finalizing the paperwork, she printed out the receipt to double check the request, and there staring me in the face is "PLUGMEN". Yeah that's right, Plug Men! OK, I lived in San Francisco for two years but no way am I driving around with that advertisment on the back of my car. After laughing my a** off, I told the lady that I needed to change it. She seemed greatly relieved...not sure why. I ended up getting "IPLUGIN". I don't think that one can be misundertood.
Thought you might enjoy my brief journey into the world of the rainbow coallition.
