I am sceptical at best but with that said 2 of the salesman that I spoke with when picking my Volt the other day said they were told by the dealership that after 2012 the Volt will be badged as a Cadillac.

I think they're confused. There will be a Voltec Cadillac and it's been in the press. Maybe they are assuming that as "it replaces" the Volt. I doubt that is correct. Remember, when you assume...

And my salesman told me the front grills on the Volt open and close like a Ford's based on the need for more air intake!
Perhaps your salesmen have an inside line to GM's secret plans for future Volts, something GM has not shared with anyone else. But it sounds like another of those unverified "I heard" kind of comments you see online sometimes.

VOLT TIPS & SECRETS
When I bought my '04 Mazda6 wagon with Manual transmission, the salesguy said that auto transmissions sap 30% of the power of the engine and that's why MTX was better. I think it also came with a pet flying elephant too but I didn't get the claim ticket to pick it up.
I agree with bionaire, your sales guy seems confused.
Personally, I consider my Volt to be a Cadillac with a bow tie on the grill. It sure drives and feels more like a Caddie than the Chevy's I have driven.

The President of BMW North America thought it should be sold as a Cadillac but I agree I think your salesman is confused.... maybe he is thinking of the ELR?
well, to me, the CTS looks a lot more like the Volt prototype than th Volt itself. I wouldent mind at all picking up a voltec based CTS this january...i loved the look of the prototype.
Hey Driverguy01, if your in the market for a CTS I'd be doing some serious thinking about getting on a waiting list for the ELR. I like the CTS but the ELR looks even better to me and it's a Voltec driven machine! This article has some nice pics of it. Hopefully the looks won't be dulled down in the production version.

Concerning the Volt, I have found the information in this forum much more reliable than what I have heard from the salesmen.
If you believe that, here's one: Bigfoot is Elvis' Love Child ! It's true !
