Default Volt Alarm Notification via OnStar?

I don't think that OnStar noifies the Volt owner via text message or email when the Volt alarm is sounding, but I wanted to confirm this by asking others on this forum. It seems like this function could be implemented because I am notified by text message and email from OnStar when my Volt has finished charging and I get that email right after it finishes. It would be nice to know if the Volt alarm is sounding when you are not within earshot.

A related question. Is there any way to know if the Volt alarm was sounding off while you were away from the car, when you return to the car? One of my car alarms chirps several times when the alarm is disarmed by the fob if the alarm was activated (sounding off) after it was last armed.

    +1 on this.

Also, is the manual correct that the theft alarm is only armed if you use the button on the remote to lock the car? That is, if you lock the car by pressing on the lock/unlock button on the door, it does not turn on the theft alarm?

And, is there no indication that the theft alarm is armed? I am used to seeing a flashing light somewhere, which not only indicates the alarm is armed, but may also act somewhat as a deterrent in itself.

Although this would not have helped me a few weeks ago when my driver's window was smashed - the alarm didn't go off. It would be nice if the Volt had a glass breakage detector that Cadillacs have.

A Honda and Toyota that I have owned in thenpast had shock sensors added by the dealer. The shock sensor module was tied into the factory alarm so that when the alarm was armed by the key fob when locking the doors. It also had an auto alarm arming feature so that the alarm was armed automatically 30 seconds after the doors were shut, even if not locked, but that feature could be turned off. I dont think that the shock sensor module was a Honda or Toyota part but it was sold by the dealer and worked well with the cars. Does GM offer something like this?

I always just leave the key in my pocket and press the lock button on the door. I'd also like to if this means that the alarm is not being set when I do this.

On my dealership's demo they have the feature set where the car locks shortly after the doors are closed and the key is outside the car. The charging alarm sets every time, sometimes a bit too quick for me but I guess I like this setting and will get used to it on my Volt when it gets here.
