For 2012, the Chevrolet Volt Owner Manual no longer includes the Navigation System.

There is a separate 2012 Chevrolet Volt Navigation System manual.

I'll start with what author MrEnergyCzar identified in the article:

    Model year differences
    **snip

    - the 2012 is now EPA-rated 94 MPGe instead of 93 MPGe

    **snip
And I'll add this to the FAQ!
And despite that, Virginia decided still not to include the 2012 for Clean Fuel license plates.

Thanks all for the help. Here is the updated list that I will point to from the FAQ.

I am documenting here all of the differences noted between the model year 2011 and model year 2012 Volts. I've been wanting to do this for a while, and add to the FAQ, but last week's front page article inspired me to actually Just Do It.

    Model year differences
    - unlike the 2011, the 2012 Volt comes with keyless entry with door access buttons on all doors and passive auto locking
    - you get three years of On-star instead of five
    - the navigation/HDD/DVD infotainment system and Bose speaker system is now an option; more below on the base stereo
    - for 2012, the Chevrolet Volt Owner Manual no longer includes the Navigation System; there is a separate 2012 Chevrolet Volt Navigation System manual
    - the base price is lower, arguably due to the de-contenting listed above; features that were standard in 2011 are now options in 2012
    - there are now a few more interior and exterior color choices (reference)
    - the 2011 recommended tire pressure is 35psi; the recommendation for 2012 with the same tires is 38psi
    - the 2012 is now EPA-rated 94 MPGe instead of 93 MPGe
    - the center display's efficiency screen shows kilowatt hours used since full charge (instead of total miles traveled) HOORAY!
    - navigation instructions also appear in the driver display
    - there is now easier-to-read lettering (larger font) and better backlighting (really?) on the center display buttons
    - PRNDL transmission mode is now shown on the console to the left of the gear shift (in addition to the dash display)
    - you can now turn off traction control manually
    - the taillights have white reflectors in them
    - pedestrian warning chirp now has a dedicated control, a button on the end of turn signal (left) stalk, instead of being married to the high beam control at speeds below 40 MPH; I hate that on my 2011 Volt, glad they fixed it for you guys with 2012's
    - you can disable the horn alarm for charge cord removal, and charge interrupted, from the user preferences UI, without needing a dealer to do it.

    Base model stereo:
    - base model stereo has different UI than the nav/HDD stereo, with a customizable home screen, and different button layout on the center console
    - base model stereo with backup camera doesn't have the "guidelines" overlay showing the path of the vehicle and distance of objects in view. (still present on the NAV system)
    - base model stereo can turn on and control climate screen without turning on the radio
