Default Look what I found at my local Kohl's!

They seem to be on a big green push, this store's roof is covered with PV panels as well. Very cool to see these public stations popping up!

    Cool.

Did they mark the spots as plug-in cars only? It looks like the spots are not premium spot, but rather off to the side of the building?

Are these posted on any of the public charging station maps? Anyone heard of any other Kohls getting public chargers?

The spot is not marked as plug in only, at least not yet. The station is fairly new. It is not a premium spot, but off on the side of the building. I'm guessing they did this as it was easier to run the electrical down the side of the building instead of tearing up the parking lot. A great side benefit is that it makes for great advertising with pictures such as this!

I actually prefer the stations to NOT be in the premium spots to be honest with you. For one, there is a reduced chance of it being occupied by a non-EV. And also, if they do go un-used, as they will in the beginning, people won't constantly pass the empty spots and begin to feel that the charging stations are a waste of time and money for everyone. I know I'm probably unique in my view point, but that's my opinion anyway.

Yes, this is a Coulomb Technologies EVSE and shows up on their charging station map, http://www.mychargepoint.net/find-stations.php. That's how I found it, they have a mobile app that shows stations near you. I was bored and just happened to pull it up and saw this one about a mile from my home...so of course I went to try it out and bought something from Kohl's that I wouldn't have otherwise.

The photo looks like a ChargePoint station. Is it at the Kohl's in Santa Clarita off of Antelope Valley Freeway at the Golden Valley exit? If so, that station is shown on the ChargePoint map. Doesn't look like there are a lot of ChargePoint charge stations in Orange County. I hope that changes soon.

ps. You can find a link to the ChargePoint web site, as well as other charging station databases, by following the links to ChrisC's FAQ in my signature.

It's at the Kohl's in Laguna Niguel, CA (Orange County). There are not a lot in Orange County yet, but they are coming. We just had two pop up in downtown Laguna Beach (free parking in an otherwise expensive lot, nice!) and several in North Orange County. Six more are going to be turned on this week at Cal State Fullerton in the shade of their new 1MW solar array! I'll post more when this happens as it was my Volt plugged into the school's open 110 outlet that sparked this journey to make it happen.

I was in Kohl's in the Antelope Valley and they had literature that indicated most Kohl's either have solar or will get solar. Next door there is a Sam's club with wind turbines on the parking lot lamp poles.

Thanks for the link to the "mychargepoint" site. I never knew there was a charging station right down the road from where I work in Columbia, SC. It's at a counter-top showroom place, and I certainly don't need new counter-tops...but it's great to know there are some in my area.

Hey ocryan, thanks for pointing this out, and the photo. I live about 2 miles from that Kohl's and have been there twice looking for the ChargePoint station since it showed up on the ChargePoint map, but couldn't find it. I never thought about looking on the side, since the pushpin on the map shows the station in the main parking lot. The pushpins are dead-on accurate for the other stations in the area. The Laguna Beach and Fashion Island pushpins are accurate down to the inch and I was able to find them easily. I'll drive over there today and check it out!

Funny story about that Kohl's... Two years ago the wife and I were there doing some Christmas shopping. As usual, I parked way out in the boonies to avoid door dings and such. When we came back to the car, there was a massive dent in the driver's side. No note, no nothing, just a huge dent covering the entire area between the door and the wheel well. I realize it wasn't Kohl's fault, but for some reason I didn't go back there for over a year. When I go there now, I'll try to snag that end spot, next to the curb.
