FWIW they did fix it for the new electronics with the base radio without nav on the 2012s. So it appears they are listening. But they are still using the old electronics/software for the nav models, perhaps there is some inherent design flaw that prevents them from disabling the radio on that, until they go to some next generation of the nav system. It is pretty stupid.

For the NAV units you'll have to use the src->aux workaround.

You must be new here. That's how voltage692 rolls.

I am not asking for workarounds. I understand there are workarounds for the BROKEN off button.

My point is the OFF button is BROKEN.

GM needs to FIX the OFF button or remove it entirely from the dash and provide accurate instructions describing all of these convoluted workarounds for the missing OFF button.

Seems like there should be some sort of firmware or software update that could fix this issue.

True... I am new. ;-) I know there are workarounds for the issue. (And I will use them.) But it's odd that all of the software engineers at GM cannot figure out what an OFF button is supposed to do.

This has been discussed dozens of times in the past. I understand from your perspective it is broken. It is not from their perspective. Some users like it working the way it is and think having the radio/music off was temporary. Apparently this works like this on many GM cars so it is working as designed and not a Volt thing.

I always am bewildered at the dramatic passion people show on this topic when MUTE is so simple/fast. If I never listened to music or the radio I'd just leave it on AUX or keep something plugged into the 3.5mm jack (old head phone 3.5mm plug).

It's clear that this particular bit of brokeness doesn't bother you. And you've expressed that well, in various ways and forms.

It's also clear that while it doesn't bother you, it really really does bother a great many Volt owners. And it really does. I don't get worked up over who beats who in the Army/Navy game, but I certainly acknowledge that a lot of people do, and they're heartfelt and convicted in their interest.

Just because this particular mis-feature doesn't bother you shouldn't inhibit your understanding that it REALLY bothers a lot of other people!

Point taken. Thanks. From my angle I wasn't trying to be difficult/obnoxious/indifferent ... see below.

I took the time to create and then add attachments because there are readers that did not realize the "solutions" were so "near at hand".

As well I guess I was just also following up that they (GM) think this is working as they designed it but everyone is pushing that it is "broke" and was naively "overlooked" and should be treated as a "bug fix". As well it is not just a Volt thing which also backs up that it is working as designed ... good or bad from peoples perspective.

Now can we please go to a thread to discuss the brake light coming on in (L)ow regen

I agree GM seems to think it's working as designed, and there's no problem.

Note to GM: GM wants money, customers have money. Ignoring customer's #1 complaint on the grounds it's working as designed is either haughty, or speaks of hubris. Neither speaks well in regards the note...

Wicked, bad, naughty Scott! Are you certain your name's not Zoot?

P.S. Maybe I wouldn't complain about the radio if I could down shift it...
