Default Syracuse NY Level 2 Charging Stations!

Looks like Central New York is about to have over 60 charge stations for EV's to use!

    http://www.cc-cny.com/?page_id=26

These level two stations can be found at the following locations:
    - Synapse Headquarters on Erie Boulevard in Syracuse.
    - Downtown Syracuse Farmers Market lot adjacent to Chase Bank building.
    - SUNY ESF Sentenial Hall.
    - Westcott St. Public Lot.
    - Carousel Center.
    - Town Center in Fayetteville.
    - City of Rome, NY.

The EV chargers are manufactured by Ecotality and are the BLINK series. Once completely activated, the stations will be open to the public and user will be charged by use of a BLINK credit card.

Yeah, I'm an American living in Montreal, and travel to northern NY State often, and keep tabs with whats happening with wind-power development in Quebec, Ontario, and Upstate NY. An issue with a couple of the large windfarms in northern NY is that they are producing power that is not being used. There is not enough transmission to get the power downstate, and the farms are generating more than enough for the sparsley populated ( and no industrial) Adirondacks. Most of the current power comes from hydroelectric along the St Lawrence from HydroQuebec, and shipped over the border.

While most of the USA does not have a excess of green electricity, northern and western NY state do, and using a electric car is a no brainer there to use this green 'free' energy source. ( and here in Quebec, also, which gets 99% of its electricity from hydro-electric, but thats for another post. ) .

    Stefan,

I didn't want to hijack the post and take it over to wind power. However, the loss of wind farms was ENTIRELY due to NIMBY whining. Nearly every municipality created resolutions against them- and it was NOT because the power would not be used. Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, etc- there is much population to utilize the wind. That's okay, let's just keep getting our energy the old fashioned way- BY SETTING THINGS ON FIRE!!!

Just an update here; the chargers are now finished and can be used. I just requested a free Blink RF card so I can use them when I need to, and the Blink website has a map showing where they're located (IIRC, 3 at Carousel center mall, 6 at the OnCenter surface lot, 12+ downtown).

What ever happened to the charging stations in Syracuse NY? They are not on the map any more. I used the one at the Carousel Center so I now they were at least three there.

I think there must be an error of some sort - all of the chargers in NY (and in the whole of the NE U.S. north of New Jersey) have disappeared from that map.

    ssvolt,

Looks like per that article the correct 240v chargers are being installed.
