Yes, the mirror was driving me crazy. I was doing things like lowering the seat in an attempt to see past that bump in the overhead!

This forum has earned its salary with this info!

Ha...9 months here ! I never noticed it swung down because it was never a problem in it's original location and I am the only driver.....( I set it and forget it ) I wonder what else might be discovered months or years later ??

I think maybe I have had 2 out of 20 or more cars that didn't have this feature...

I never noticed, but my mirror was perfectly adjusted ever since I picked the car up. Interesting though that it pivots in this nature. Wonder if my old Pontiacs had the same feature on theirs?

For me pulling it down and flipping it over so that the auto dimming sensor is on the bottom made the auto dimming feature work a lot better. I originally didn't know this and it drove me crazy that the dimmer feature worked so poorly. Then I read on this forum about some flipping the mirror over to get it to work better. I stumbled on pulling it down while trying to flip it over.

This picture show two pivot points in the Volt's rear view mirror.

This picture shows how having the mirror too high would cut off your visibility.

This pictures show how low you can pivot the mirror for max visibility in rear window and hatch window.

Sad to admit I never found this either... almost 6 weeks now in just leaving at "good enough..." I'll check on my way to work this morning. Thanks again to this website!

I wonder if using this will also help in getting the sunshade in and out of position? Someone posted that they had trouble getting the sunshade removed due to interference with the rearview mirror.
