Default Insurance Companies - don't recognize VIN?

I received a letter from my insurance company stating that "all or part of the information for my vehicle is incorrect". I called them and ensured them that it is a Chevrolet Volt, 2011, and that the VIN is correct. It seems like their database has not caught up to the vehicle yet. Has anyone else had a problem with their company recognizing their vehicle?

Not with insurance company, but with EZPass. Their database doesnt know what a "volt" is. Had to add it to my account as an "other."

When my wife set up our insurance, the AAA office had to retrieve additional data to get up to date. The "cu" was new.

I've used my MY 2012 VIN to get automated quotes from 3 insurance companies (USAA, Century21, Progressive) with no problems.

No problem with my insurance company - I did find the EZPass does not give the Green Pass to Volts

I have found that this is a common problem each time a new vehicle model - or even a new model year comes out...we, the consumer, have to educate the insurance company with the correct VINs and models.
