Thread: Wrong MPGe figure on Myvolt.com?

Default Wrong MPGe figure on Myvolt.com?

The figure for my Volt's MPGe on the Myvolt.com site is 118 MPGe. When I calculate my MPGe using their formula I get 81 MPGe. Has anyone else noticed this discrepancy?

FYI, I am referring to lifetime MPGe, not the last 30 days figure, which we all know are incorrect. The figure 81 mentioned in the post above is consistent with both the Crichton data and the analysis I previously posted.

Are you using power consumption numbers from the wall or at the wheels. As just a guess maybe GM is using the electricity consumed at the wheels and the difference in charging and discharge losses make up the difference in your values?

I am using the power consumption that GM quotes for my vehicle at the Myvolt site, 32kwh/100 miles.

    Hi everyone,

This is Adam from OnStar. Just want to offer a little insight here. We started collecting data at the launch of the efficiency section early this month, so the 30 day values will not appear correct until it has been 30 days since launch. Hope this makes sense.

Not to drift off topic, but the mileage figures are goofy as well. I'm sure that the data we are seeing is a prelim effort, so not complaining. It's good to see progress!

I've seen some oddities and a few outright impossibilities show up in my data, such as Total Miles being more than EV Miles for a particular trip, so assuming that the remaining miles are gas powered, when no such thing actually happened, and one case of EV Miles being more than Total Miles! My data shows I have consumed 2 gallons of fuel since the data collection started, when in fact the odometer reports 1.0 gallons from new. (0.4 gallons was in the first mile! Which I take to mean on the assembly line, or soon after.)

Data collection needs to occur while the vehicle is at rest, or these sorts of "divide-by-zero" results will just render the data _almost_ useless...
