Default Costo Pulls The Plug On Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

I was hoping, especially since I am a Costco shopper they would continue to install EV chargers at their stores. Please follow link and thank Costco for being in the lead with EV chargers and to continue to put them at stores rather than uninstalling them. The article really doesn't say but they may be taking them out just put in newer style chargers?

I have read other articles/message boards that mentioned that a new Costco corporate manager dislikes EVs and removed all old EVSEs with no replacements.

Save our tax dollars for where the chargers will get the most use like malls, town centers, parks, etc...

When was the last time you spent 3 hours in a Costco?

Guess you haven't seen the lines at my Costco on the weekend..

I do agree give me charging at the places I would spend more than one hour at, gym, movies, shopping centers etc. Costco is usually a single destination with not much around the centers.

Do we really need charge stations in all these "local" type places? Although I could be grabbing a half-hour worth of charge if the stations were everywhere, would I bother trying to save $0.20 (if charging was free) when I can get to these places and back home easily within the 40-mile range? These might be more useful for cars like the plug-in Prius where you have to charge every 12 miles if you want to stay electric.

I think priority should be getting stations into MDU residence complexes, workplaces, parking garages catering to commuters. Next step, parking locations near tourist-type attractions that might bring in people from > 15-20 miles away, staying for multi-hours. To me places like the local Costco/Wal-mart should be rather low priority. Unless this is the only Costco in a largish area that does attract people from rather far away.

Well I must be the exception. I drive 60 miles to a Costco and spend almost 2 hours there. For me it would be nice to get a partial charge before I head back home. Living in a rural area it is nice to get a charge when I can.

Yeah rural area makes a big difference. Here in the San Jose area I have my pick of something like 7 Costcos within a 15 mile radius. Finding one in electric range just isn't a big deal here.

I'm thinking hotels/motels. If you could plug in overnight, even to 120v, you could start out in the AM with a fuill charge anyway.

It is 140 miles to the nearest Costco from my house. If they are pulling out all their charging stations, now I have another reason not to drive to Columbus.
