Default Black Plastic Box Attached to Window behind Mirror?

Does anyone know the purpose of the contents of the black plastic box attached to the front window behind the rear view mirror? This past weekend, while removing the Volt sunshade from the window, it snagged the lower lip on the box, popping it open and snapping the plastic catch - - it now won't close, just hangs open. I need to call the service department to see about ordering a replacement (doubt they have it in stock?) but don't know what to call it? I don't believe letting it hang open until it can be replaced will do any harm?

    @ kbavoca,

This box house is the remote control door lock receiver which is an antenna that takes the signals from the tire pressure sensors and the remote key fob. This box also houses the Inside Air Moisture and Windshield Temperature Sensor used for the HVAC auto defog function. Definitely get into contact with your dealer and have them take a look.

Thanks, Trevor; I will give them a call and now be able to tell them what I am talking about, and see if they have time to look at it to see what might be needed? I really think there needs to be a better way to "latch" it - - broke way to easy. We're reluctant to use the sunscreen now!

Interesting. Someone asked me the same question last week and I had no clue. Thanks.

Not a problem Noel. We've had that question come up a few times from other customers in the past.

I definitely tell this all the folks I'm giving demos/test drives to as it exemplifies all the efforts GM put into using the electricity efficiently to get longer EV range. i.e. when you are running on the battery GM goes to great length to utilize your juice as needed.
