20 August, SACRAMENTO Volt, Leaf, Tesla Driver's Gathering, #3.5

Fellow EV drivers in the greater Sacramento area, I just this morning got confirmation that we are approved by the Cal Expo REI store management for our second "Driver's Gathering" in the parking lot in front of the REI store (Cal Expo location) for 20 August.

I propose we arrive around 9:45 am to get parking organized; I will bring donuts for the first arrivals as a reward ! Socialize and hang around from 10 am to 1 pm (please) for conversations with interested drivers that have still not discovered the option of "clean electric cars" for our area.

I have gotten handout brochures from Nissan on the Leaf and from Chevy for the Volt, so these will be available to distribute. Bring your sunscreen and a folding chair, and let's see HOW MANY of us will come out for a morning of "show and tell."

SMUD and the Air Resources Board should also be able to make this gathering to lend their expertise to promoting "clean driving."

Looks like we will be getting some token "sponsorship" from the Sacramento Clean Cities Board promoting air quality. They have funding for us to cover giveaway drinks and cookies for all who come by to find out about these new electric power vehicle options, and they are going to do some email promotion about our event as well. SMUD will be there as last time, and we might get some promotion support from them too...

Now we only need to get some RSVP feedback from Volt owners who will be showing up...

The sponsorship has come through from the Sacramento Clean Cities program. We will be getting FREE REFRESHMENTS for as many as a couple hundred attendees.

Of course, early Volt arrivees (9:45 am to 10 am) get PRIORITY parking and first choice of the most excellent donuts to be provided.

Due to conditions way beyond my control, our family Volt is now in the body shop, and we will be lucky to get it back by the end of the month...

So, hopefully we will have several other Sacramento area Volt drivers for our "Green Vehicle Gathering" at the CalEXPO REI parking lot this coming Saturday.

I have information flyers for both Volt and Leaf cars, and we will have "FREE REFRESHMENTS" for drivers and the curious who we hope will flock to find out about how these new cars fit into Sacramento real-world driving.

What color Volt cars will be showing up? Please arrive by 9:45 am so we can organize the parking and have some time to personally socialize before we start "outreaching and educating" the still curious but not yet committed.

Beautiful day and decent activity and interest for a gathering of Sacramento area Leaf and Volt drivers. This was the second in a series of "educational outreach" events to educate the lay public about the benefits of EV motoring.

We did need more Chevy Volt cars and drivers, but next time, right? The threesome include two of the regional VIPS for clean air and public power systems in Sacramento.....
