    Default MyNissanLeaf Sub-Forum

Should we open up a new set of sub-forums for our friends over at MyNissanLeaf.com?

Seems they have a bit of an issue at the moment:

Perhaps their range estimate indicated they had more time left on the account than they actually did? :-0

The odd thing is the domain registry says:

    Code:
       Domain Name: MYNISSANLEAF.COM
       Registrar: TUCOWS.COM CO.
       Updated Date: 16-mar-2011
       Creation Date: 04-aug-2009
       Expiration Date: 04-aug-2011
They've still got another 6 weeks before expiration. Does Tucows require payment that much in advance?

FTR (not that I have anything to do with it either), gm-volt.com shows:

    Code:
       Domain Name: GM-VOLT.COM
       Registrar: ENOM, INC.
       Updated Date: 14-feb-2011
       Creation Date: 10-jan-2007
       Expiration Date: 10-jan-2012
So it's good for another few months.

Rusty, it could be the hosting server not the domain name registration. In fact if the hosting company goes away you can get stuck big time. It's not easy to switch servers if you can't access the access. Or at least that was the case the last time I needed to deal with a hosting company going under.

Having said that, it has to be hard to keep a site up and running if you don't accept advertising. But I'm sure this is more an administrative/technical issue which will be straightened out. Hope so anyway.

    Hmmm,

One of the Ford Focus Forums (http://www.fordfocuselectricforum.com) shows exactly the same message...do we have an anti-EV conspiracy?

Interesting. The Ford Focus site was registered with the domain server exactly one year later than the Nissan site (to the day), but with a 1 year expiration instead of 2.

My guess is each site was a develop and deploy contract, with 5-6 weeks of development. At the "end" of the development they were registered and deployed ("end" in quotes, 'cause that's just too freaken coincidental!).

Did the Ford site look similar to the Nissan site? I've never hung out over at the former. Presumably the people who paid the initial contracts will pony up some money to maintain the sites (unless they're being held over a barrel). It'd be interesting to see who actually owns and runs (ran) the sites for both car forums, to see if it's the same entity.

Just checked. Both the Leaf and the Focus sites are back up. No need for a subforum!

Rusty -- they look identical. Good call on the development.
