He also knows that Toyota already stated that they will have a plug-in lithium-ion hybrid out in 2010. It might even beat the Volt out of the gate and be more affordable. Yes, but it took Toyota 18 months to admit that they were pregnant with the wrong technologies, and needed to abort and start over. Maybe they can make a small 70 hp version of their Atkinson cycle engine for the range extender.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with NiMH. In fact, if it meant a cheaper Volt and a little less trunk space, I would get one with a NiMH pack. Many RAV4-EVs have well over 100,000 miles on the packs and are still going strong.

GM tells us batteries are in testing and not ready yet.

This is a load of crap. GM has a interest in keeping us dependent on oil. The maintenance shop in the dealerships brings in the profits, not the new car sales. NO oil changes, no engines and trannys destroyed by lack of maint. would this be good for any dealer.

The Tesla roadster, at $109,000.00, is sold out for the next 12 months of production. The battery pack runs 250 miles on a 4 hour charge and will power the car 0-60 in 3.9 sec.

GM claims to be spending so much man hours and blah blah blah- I don't buy it. I also do not believe Toyota has a desire to build an electric car. This is all lip service to people who want this car.
