Will Chevy be adding additional body styles to the Volt - I heard there may be a small SUV in the works. Does anyone know if this is true? I have had mine for a month and my wife wants one if it is an SUV.

Chevy has a small pick up called Montana that seems to be a perfect fit for the Voltec technology:

But I read that it will not enter the U.S. market. GM is making another bad decision if the Montana isn't sold locally. I know many persons who would buy this pickup if it was Voltec-powered.

I suspect as long as Volts are in high demand @ MSRP no other models will come out.
It's been confirmed, more or less inadvertently, that GM is coming out with a CUV Cadillac, based on the SRX platform. http://www.leftlanenews.com/cadillac...in-hybrid.html More details can be found here: http://www.thedetroitbureau.com/2010...lug-in-hybrid/
Plus maybe a Buick of some kind.

As of right now there are no plans to offer additional body styles to the Volt. However, Volt MPV5 electric five-passenger multi-purpose crossover is currently in concept. No production schedule has been announced yet.

There is a picture of this 5-seat SUV in the Volt book (welcome gift); the caption says that the concept car was shown at a 2010 exhibition. I also would be very interested in a 5-seater!
My wife and I were talking about this today. She's driving my car for the first time, and will probably burn a gallon of gas by time she is done; still much better than our Acadia would do for her 60 mile drive.
So I said to her, how would you like to drive the Volt all the time? You drive further than I do, so it would make sense cost-wise.
She said when they come out with an SUV Volt, she will consider it. Until then, she wants to continue to drive the Acadia for most of her commutes.
I pressed her for more comment, and she said Give me a Voltec vehicle with more cargo capacity and sits higher than the Volt, and I will definitely look at it.
