    Question 240 v Charger Promo?

I test drove a Volt twice at a GM test drive event at the Burlington Mall in June and the GM reps told me that the first 2000 CDN Volt owners would get a 220v charger as part of a promo. I have spoken to Volt advisor Dianne who wasn't aware of it. I've also been lurking in this forum for awhile and don't recall any mention of it.

Does anyone know anything about it?

Nope I haven't heard anything about that. There was a promo like that down in the States but not here in Canada. Unless it's something new.

Thanks Mike I just ordered those matts and the cargo net off the site you quoted. Dealership prices are nuts up here. I bought some TPMS valves from the dealership for way more than I have later found them online in the US, almost $20 less per valve. I guess they don't understand what volume sales are up here.

I doubt that very much..............conservatively, that could cost GM somewhere $500,000-750,000. as a special promo to 'already' customers of the Volt. If there is only 500 Volts coming to Canada this year, it probably take a couple of years to exhaust that promo............i doubt that!
Now the Volt 'graphics' package for those 500 Canadian Volt owners might be more realistic but I doubt that will happen either.

SPX called me on my cell on Friday asking if I wanted to sign up to their site and get the process going on buying and having them install a level 2 charger...I was on my office phone at the time, in the process of ordering two level 2 chargers from SPX - how weird is that.

Anyway, nobody said anything about a free one.

My plan is to install one charger at home, and the other at my office (it's my building so I can). In just 9 days of having the Volt, I've found that a top up would be very handy, especially on weekends. Crazy what I'm doing to avoid using gas...on my way home today, I was down to 2km of charge, so I stopped in at the dealer and charged for 15 minutes, while having a coffee. It was enough to get me home

    Default First highway trip mileage

After 1300km of in-town driving using less than 2 litres of gasoline, we did a trip to Kingston and back this weekend. The Volt behaves really well on the highway, and the fuel economy is quite good.

We first did Ottawa-Kingston via the 416 and 401, and got 58km down the 416 before the battery ran out. From then on it was on the generator until Kingston. After a few hours in Kingston, we came up hwy 10 to visit relatives 15 km south of Westport. My wife was driving about 115 km/h (~70 mph) on the 416 and 401, and about 85 (~52 mph) on highway 10, and the fuel economy was 6.1L/100km (38.5 US mpg) for the gas part. Outside temp was 8C (46F) and cabin was set to 21.5C (71C).

Got a full charge overnight at the relatives, and then set out to give them a test ride to Westport and back. They were vey impressed with the car. Left for Ottawa later, again through Westport, and back to Ottawa via highway 10. I was driving about 95 km/h today (60 mph), with the climate control still set to 21.5C but in comfort mode this time. Outside temp was 7C. It was really humid, so the A/C and heat were on simultaneously for most of the drive, and I needed to turn on the front and rear defogger manually a few times. Combined with somewhat hilly terrain, I got the worst all-electric range ever at 40.5km. Test rest of the drive on gasoline was very good at 5.7L/100km (41.3 mpg), so it seems that once on the generator, climate setting don't affect the mileage much. (This makes sense because the electric heater is no longer needed).

Anyways, I'm very happy with the Volt on the highway. It's very quiet and comfortable, and in CS mode, fuel economy beats my Sentra SE-R by about 35%. I wish we had it when we did out road trip to Washington DC this summer

Next weekend I'm going to the south shore of Montreal for my sister's birthday. I'll be by myself, so I may get a chance to see how the Volt behaves at higher speeds

Ok. So the Ottawa crowd is organizing a get together. How about the Southern Ontario crowd? Say in Mississauga? I am open to coffee or beers with like minded individuals!

I'd like to know what tire pressure you are running with...............what is the recommended tire pressure?

I have seen some guys getting over 40mpg but they appear to be running around 40psi. Any thoughts?

I never have much luck getting my weird work schedule to match up with others for meet ups. That said if I do happen to be in the area when one happens I'll show. Just don't bend times around me.

The door sticker says the recommended psi is 38. I like to run my cars at 40 as well, which I'm going to have to get the dealer to do next week. My dealer does the nitrogen tires and they have a different psi in each tire from 35 to 38. A little annoying as I asked the car to be delivered with 40psi in all the tires. I guess I'll pop by there tomorrow and get them to top them up with nitrogen to the 40 psi I asked for.

    Default Quebec Volt Rebates!

    Hey Guys,
I havn't been posting much... Just absorbing as much as I can.

    But now I have dilemma.

At the time of ordering, the sales person told me that they would be handling the provincial rebate and be applying it at the point of sale. Which I thought was excellent service on their part!

Fast forward to last week just as the volt left the rail yard to be delivered to the dealer, the salesperson now states:

    1) Any volt purchased/leased BEFORE Jan 1, 2012 (official Quebec date for the new green program to start http://www.vehiculeselectriques.gouv.qc.ca/) the purchaser will need to request the rebate him/herself as a tax return during tax season next year.
    2) Any volt purchased/leased AFTER Jan 1, 2012 the rebate can/will be applied to at the Point of Sale by the dealer.

Can any Quebec purchasers/leasees shed any light on this? How was your experience, did the dealerships deduct the quebec incentive during the point of sale as originally stated.

My salesperson said this new information was just handed down to them a couple of weeks ago that was according to new decisions made by the provincial gov't...

    Thanks in advance!

    B

Sounds good to me. I'm in Mississauga. Depends on the date. How many of us are there?
