Thanks! It sure would have been useful since we went to absolute comedy tonight just across the street! Maybe next time!

Yup I saw him at the Revenge Of The Electric car at Bytown Cinema, good guy and we chatted for a good 20 minutes, the Leaf sure does look good inside, but it could use some more color choices.

    Hello everyone !!i-borne.jpg

Good news, charging stations are getting real in Quebec !!

    Here is the website:

    http://www.theelectriccircuit.com/

The first will be working in march 2012. The Level 3 stations will be installed later in the year.

There is a Map where all the stations will be installed. Beginning on march 1st, there will also be a iPhone app.Attachment 4291

2.50$ per charge, flat rate ...

The ones that will be in St-Hubert Restaurants will be very practical ...

This is great news! I bet that the Province of Quebec or Hydro Quebec (is Hydro Quebec owned by the province?) will put charging stations in Gatineau before Ontario or the Federal Government puts any in Ottawa. Montreal seems like a great place to own an EV as of March 2012!

Yes Hydro-Quebec is owned by the province ...

I wouldn't be surprised to see charging stations in Gatineau this year since there is St-Hubert's, Rona and Metro in that city !! I've talked with the PR person at St-Hubert and she told me that they would begin with Montreal and Quebec, but then they would follow the places where EV's are sold ... and Volt, iMiev and Leaf are already sold by dealers in Gatineau / Ottawa ...

Anyway ... 100 EVSE by summer is a good start ... moreover, they will be testing a 400V Chademo Level 3 charging station this Spring in Boucherville (southshore of Montreal) ... Too bad the Volt does not have Level 3 charging capacity !!

Even the Nissan Leaf does not truly support Level 3 charging. It has the plug, but the manual says that frequent use will void the battery warranty. Not exactly reassuring....

Just to put some of my Canadian friends minds at ease about your LOW EV range on those cold morning drives; back in December and early January, when my Volt was up north, I was getting a 'range' of only high 20's; this was based on the cold temps and the type of driving I was doing at that time. Now the nature of my driving has completely changed and I am now in a much more warmer climate. I have gone 2 weeks without using a drop of gas and am taking much more advantage of 'regen' cruising, my EV range is now well into the 40's.
Unsurprisingly, to most of you, the more battery miles you can get out of a days driving, thus the EV estimated range will be increased at the start of your next 'full charge' trip. The purpose of this message is just to let you know that your EV range will come back as your temps warm up and your driving style improves.............I think all of you know the theory but may not have experienced it in practice yet.

Nice to hear you're enjoying your Volt in warmer climate! I'm jealous I've never seen more than 45 cause I bought my Volt in December. I've never had range estimates in the 20's before, even last Sunday when it was -32C I managed 35kms on 80km/h country roads. Your right my EV estimated range is almost dead on at 41-43km estimated for a 40km one way commute, the engine usually kicks in a couple of times anyway if it's colder than -4C for a few kilometers worth, so I can gun it at 120km/h on the highway with comfort heat on! Looks like I did my research before I bought the car, I'm right at the minimum GM estimate of 40-80 kilometers =)

    Enjoy your trip!

Soooooooooooo any news on your Volt? Status updates? You must be ecstatic right now!

I can't plan a reunion for January, to busy and to darn cold anyway, lets do it when it's warmer. We would all meet up at a location with our charges depleted and all leave engines running.. lol

Oh BTW I saw a red Tesla on Monday eastbound 174! Nice!
