I think my Volt loves the higher temps. 30C in Ontario today. I did the run from Guelph to downtown Toronto and got my best EV range ever. And that was with full tank of gas and 3 people (2 + me) on board. I did the speed limit the whole way (100 km on the 401). Tires were inflated to 40 psi prior to departure. A/C set to ECO and 24C.

Now I have my sights set on 100 km! I think I need a good run at 80 km/hr to achieve that though. May take some preplanning to have only a small amout of gas on board and no passengers to complain if I leave the AC off!
Hey Min Fuel, I too, am going to try to topple the 100km mark. I got 93.7 km on first charge. Dealer only inflaed tires to 36psi, do you suggest more?

Well I have a 2013. It uses the same tires as the 2012's but they now recommend a tire pressure of 38psi on the 2013's. So I believe 38psi would probably still work well.

Neromanceres, does the 2013 still come with 3 years of OnStar? There was someone in another thread who said that 2013 Canadian Volts are coming with only 6 months of Onstar rather than 3 years.

    38psi is recommended on MY2012

It's interesting you mention this. When I was at my dealer they too were not 100% sure. But when I picked up the car as part of the process we setup Onstar and they told me that it is free for 3 years.

Did a trip to London yesterday (from Kitchener) with my wife and I (2 people in car). I took the back roads to see how much I could squeeze out. London is about ~140ft lower in elevation than Kitchener so it's not too much of a drop.

Tires at 38psi, Drove the speed limit (mostly 80 km/h with the cruise set). Drove using sport mode and L. Used fan only. Temperature averaged between 16C and 18C. There was some scattered showers so there was some wiper use (and a little standing water on the road in spots). And had the stereo going the whole trip.

I got 77.6km (48.5 miles) on 10.3KWh before switching over to gas.

On the way back we used gas the whole way (again on back roads at the limit but needed window defrost for much of the trip back). Voltstats is now showing me having a MPGcs of 49.61 (4.74L/100km) which is impressive. Not sure how accurate this is.

Very impressed with the car. Was hoping to squeeze a bit more EV range out. Maybe on a dryer warmer day I could have done a bit better.

    Awesome!

That's actually quite a relief to hear haha, having 6 months of Onstar vs 3 years would've been a serious bummer.

Congrats on delivery of the new Volt..............you picked a good colour; if you see another Blue Topaz Metallic riding around the Brampton area next week, it will probably be me.

I think you will need a few more CS miles on Volt to get a good read on the CS mileage.........that is what I found and appears to be the case on Voltstats too.

I'm shopping for winter tires with rims at TireRack.com and I will pick them up at some UPS store across the borders.

    I'm thinking going with 16''...

Any advice ? What about TPMS sensors ? Should I buy them also or will the OEM fit ?
What is the procedure exactly for cross border UPS store pickup, do you need to have a prior relationship with them or can you just pick a store, order your stuff and go down and pick it up? I presume most charge some fee for holding the package for you, is this standard or does it vary between locations?
