I have had the same problem with my charge door that the first poster mentioned. Once, my door actually got stuck and I had to use the tip of my pocket knife to pry it loose.

probably a little lubrication would do the trick. only happens to me about once every couple weeks.

I have been getting the charge port door open message more and more frequently as will, I have been triple checking to make sure that it is closed, pressing more gently on it seems to work better than tapping on it.

I wonder what has been the fix for this problem?

I just noticed the post about prissing the select button to scilence the alarm, that will help!

Finally called my dealer to schedule the first service for my Volt, and to have them fix the charge door, which regularly continues to give me the message that the charge door is open when it is not (especially when ambient temps are high). On the phone, I started to say "charge door" and the service guy said "We just did one of those!" Seems there was a faulty sensor or something on the other customer, he placed an order for the same part for me, said it's a relatively straightforward fix. Appt. is scheduled for Aug. 17 (away next week)— will post specifically what was replaced and if/how it works.

well. I got my charge port door replaced, then when I got home, the car will not charge!

the service tech must have knocked something loose. he did not think to check that the charge port worked before giving me the car back...

so, back to the dealer again. I swear #192 is the most problematic one out there....

the chargepoint relay kicks closed and the Volt dash light turns yellow, then the chargepoint kicks open again, saying the car is not ready. maybe one of the port wires got knocked loose when the tech was in there? of course, this happened on a friday afternoon so I have to do my commuting to salinas without electricity this time. will bring the car to the other dealer that I use and see if they can sort it out.

so, if you get the port door replaced, make sure to check the charger still works!

You have had some bad luck. Are you using a 240V charger? I'd try using different circuit just to see.

Tried both chargers. Won't advance yellow to green.

Will post what the dealer says on Tuesday.

Happened to me twice - charge door opened on the road with dashboard message indicating. Dealer lubricated the latch 2 weeks ago. Too soon to tell if permanent fix..

An update to my post in June about the charge port door. The dealer determined the charge port door sensor was bad sending a false signal to the car that the door was not closed. They ordered the new part (took 3 days since they don't have any in stock, since the car isn't even for sale in MA yet!) and after it was replaced I have not had any problems over the last two months.
