Default CD miles incorrectly recorded as CS miles

Got to the pharmacy with 2 EV miles indicated remaining today. When I started back up again it showed 0 miles and switched over to the gas tank gauge.

I then drove the 3/4 mile drive home at 25-35 MPH speeds and watched the power flow screen. The engine never turned on, it was EV all the way BUT...

the miles got recorded as being driven in CS mode (note the 0.00 gallons of gas). There's about a 70' overall drop from the store to my house, which helped. But still...

That must be why your 120 volt charge cords keep failing!

    *Heh*

Since I've stopped charging at work I haven't lost any cords. An engineer from GM, an engineer from who I suspect is the EVSE design shop, the regional service director, and a local electrician are meeting with me and our facilities guys Monday. She wanted to come out yesterday, but she couldn't get airfare.

Hmm... Can't find reasonable airfare into San Diego on the last Friday during Spring Break, go figure! Apparently Detroit doesn't get a great deal of Spring Breakers flocking in :-)

It would be nice if GM provided you with a 240 volt Voltec for the work place.

The replacement 120 volt charge cord, the 240 volt Voltec and the ChargePoint charge station are all working great here at the house where the first cord failed many times.

Hope they can discover what is different at your work place to help solve the mystery.

I believe this is by design. You were in CS mode, just not burning gas. Being in CS mode results in various changes to how the car thinks and is prepared to supply power, as we all know there are plenty of times in CS mode where we are regenning or the gas engine is otherwise not running. It correctly noted you did not burn gas, so your mileage numbers will not be effected but I am sure you were technically in "CS" mode.

I am pretty sure that gwmort hit the nail on the head here.

Think of it as Prius Mode... The prius engine is not always on when the car is in motion but it is technically in CS mode 100% of the time.

I worked mode selections yesterday to get 64.4 CD miles. On my 100 mile trip round trip yesterday, with 19 miles shown remaining for CD mode I forced CS mode by selecting mountain mode for an uphill section of the trip that was the last 12 miles to my final destination. Then I put it in Nomal for the trip back down that 12 miles and for the rest of the trip back home. For the total trip the time the ICE was running was the same as my previous trips made entirely in Normal Mode but because I came back downhill for that 12 miles after switching out of MM back to CD mode I spent more miles in CD. Just a way to fake the computer. If I had left it in Normal it would have gone into CS before I reached my destination and all miles from that point would have been recorded as CS miles. Are we having fun yet, or What?

Has anyone seen more than 50 miles range shown for estimated CD range remaining? I have a long downgrade from my home. Half way down the CD range gets to 50 miles remaining but does not go above that as I go on down the hill.

I wanted to see if anyone else has observed the kwh not going down. When I go down a hill, I usually see the kwh number go down by one tenth, but no more. I tried heading up the mountain about 10 miles in mm. I turned around and switched to normal mode. The ev range showed 14 miles remaining as I went down the hill, never going up or down. Once I got back to the flats, the kwh eventually started going up, and the range started going down. I am tempted to try again going further up the hill.
