I have concluded that MyVolt is not set up to accomodate a PC, Laptop, or Android Tablet. I spent hours trying to get OnStar to fix that for me but have had no luck. They just talk around it. I think I set a record of being transfered around OnStar reps: 5 times in one call.

Onstar did update my Maintenance and Diagnostic data on MyVolt March 17th, but the remote controls still do not work. Makes me feel like a second class citizen for not owning a iPhone. I had my daughter-in-law check on her Android phone and she can get mylink on her phone.

Hehehe.. thank you for your support. I support the open source aspect of Android, but don't have the training to create an app at this time. As for an app to find the car, I believe there are applications to help retrace your steps if you lost your way in a parking garage for example. Otherwise, we need to just keep requesting they improve mylink.

The OnStar Mylink app is found in the Android Market. This app downloaded and installed fine on a T-mobile MyTouch 3G. Remote commands work fine. Alerts such as a text that your Volt has finished charging works fine (must be inabled BEFORE you start charging in this example). Nice assist shortcut page where you can call your dealership, OnStar, roadside service, etc.. Remote unlock from phone works ok, but the time frame is horrible because well...huh... it has to go to space and back.

It does take a long time for the app to start when lauched, then some time to connect to the Volt. So, not using it too much regularly, but could see how useful it could be if you were far from the car and/or it was charging at an unfamiliar station/electric source/area.

Myvolt.com is just now starting to display tire psi on day 5 for example where the Android app supplied that on day 2.

Like a "Find My Volt" app. Apple has one for the iPad 2. I tried it out and it works great. Maybe someone at GM will get the hint.

I tried getting the apk file a couple of different ways directly through the tablet. One site required reassembling a picture from tiles - my tablet couldn't do that.
I used my PC to go to that site, assembled the pic, and had the apk file sent to my gmail (which now works, by the way). I opened gmail on the tablet and saved the apk and tried to open it - I got some kind of "cannot parse file" error. Back to the PC - I saved the apk onto a USB stick, put the stick into the tablet, saved the file there, and opened it...success! Of course I had to send the activation code to my e-mail, then go back to the tablet to finish.
Anyway, it works. Now I need to figure out how to see the information that winds up behind the bottom task bar ("charging", "help", etc.).

The Palm uses WebOS, you need Android to use OnStar MyLink.
You can, however, try to access the MyVolt.com site. It doesn't work with my Blackberry, but you may have better luck.

    hi all,

so i have been using both the iphone app and the myvolt webpage. however, the web page seems to time out very quickly...i like keep it up so i can check on the status of the charge but every time i go to check it makes me log back in. is there anyway to extend the time before it times out?

    thanks
