    Default Apps for Volt

One of the really cool things about the Volt is the MyLink app that let's you remote start, un/lock doors, etc. from an iPhone. The fact that it has to do this through OnStar is a bit of a pain because the time latency for commands to go from your phone, up to OnStar and then to the car is quite long. I can understand the delay, but it would sure be nice if GM one day added a private wifi net to the car when you're in close enough range to communicate with it.

But the thing that reeeeeally yanks my chain is this: if we have to go through OnStar to control the car, why the heck doesn't OnStar give us the ability to get the lat/long of the car so we can see where it is on the map? This would be an awesome feature that essentially would give every owner a free LoJack ability as well as a way to track your car when you loan it out.

The data is there. Why don't they give this to us? Is it a privacy issue? Or is this going to come in as a feature upgrade from OnStar in the future?

    I agree with that suggestion.

I would like to add an option to the app to let me 'close all windows'. This would be great for when the windows are cracked open, while Im at work, and it starts to rain....

Must be nice in your world hehehehe. I can't see that option passing legal. As for current location, if the OnStar rep knows where the car is at, then so should I on my phone. BTW...my phone isn't an iphone. I don't drink the Apple juice, just Google Android open source juice. Not trying to start anything, but just wanted it noted the app is found in other places besides itunes.

Ok, Master Hacker Paul, write us some kickass open source code app to get around this map oversight and I'll chuck my iPhone and I'll wear a t-shirt that says Paul Effing Rocks for an entire month.

Hehehe.. thank you for your support. I support the open source aspect of Android, but don't have the training to create an app at this time. As for an app to find the car, I believe there are applications to help retrace your steps if you lost your way in a parking garage for example. Otherwise, we need to just keep requesting they improve mylink.

Or a more quotidien task: finding it after you forgot where you parked it...
