My Volt was delivered on Tuesday.
My daily commute is 30 miles and I have been doing it at with about 24% of my battery left. Today I went 41.4 miles on battery and sipped .3 gallons of gas to go another 10.9 miles. I got 36.3 MPG after I switched to gas.

My wife got 52 miles driving out of Quartzsite Az to Vidal junction Ca. A nice easy downhill to Parker AZ and then a gradual uphill to Vidal junction.

My wife just pulled a big one - first day of ownership, nice weather (so little to no climate control), flat Texas and highway driving (most) and some city driving - 52 miles + 2 miles left on battery range.

What was her average speed, my guess is under 50. If I can find the patience I'd like to see if I can break 60 miles on a charge doing not more then 25MPH. I don't know if my patience would tolerate it. My record so far is 53, I was keeping it to 35mph.

Was this a round trip or a one-way charge?

Dealership let me bring "my" Volt home for the night. I've already driven it twice around town and one 5 mile run at 60. When I left the dealership, it showed 26 miles left on a charge with 1.9 gallons of gas used, mpg to that point was 50.3. I drove 24 miles home and still had 9 miles showing on electric range. I plugged it in for the afternoon and tonight after supper, took the wife for a ride. Range was up to 23 miles - obviously not a full charge. We drove over a local "mountain" to another town. When I got to the top of the hill, about 10 miles from home, the range was down to 10 miles. I put the car in low and on the downhill run, added 5 miles to the range. Turned around, went back up the "mountain" and by the time I got to the top, had just 3 miles of range. However, on the downhill run in low, I made the 10 miles home on that 3 miles, with the counter hitting 0 just as I turned into the driveway. Some posters have said it becomes kind of a game to make it that last few miles without ICE coming on - I can see how. Very interesting drive.

Actually her 52 mile trip was on a decent amount of highways at 60 and some at 65. It was a one way to her work, which she plugs in via 120v. She had to use gas on the way back since she went out for lunch, the 120 couldn't give enough charge in a work day for lunch and such.

So no tricks, no hypermilling, highway driving, some traffic and some city street (over half is highway easily, i would venture more like 65-75%). Its perfect weather here in Texas so climate control was very minimal. Add its fairly flat land and a woman who had practive using a leaf for awhile to use slower acceleration and long coasting breaking all contributed. I myself made a 27.5 mile trip with lots of highway with maybe 10% city streets and I made it to work with half my battery showing and an esimated 24 miles left on battery.

Had my best day commuting today 47.5 miles on a single charge...and my personal rule is I do not sacrifice traffic flow to extend my charge. The temp today hit 81 so that must be my sweet spot!

Most of my trips don't use close to a full charge, but on the ones that have I have gotten over 48 miles before the ICE kicked in.
