Default Stuck in Audio Cue Volume Mode?

Today when I backed out of the garage and started driving the XM radio volume was low. So I turned the volume knob but the volume wasn't changing. I noticed that the touch screen was showing "Audio Cue Volume" whenever I turned the knob. I tried turning the infotainment off and on but it stayed stuck in the audio cue volume mode. I finally went in the config menu and entered the screen where you can set the audio cue volume. When I came out of that screen the volume knob returned to its normal function.

Anybody else experience this? I have no idea how I got stuck into this mode.

There are options within the Config menu to change only a particular volume setting. Is it possible that you're in a specific setting still? I'd try searching under the Config menu to see if that's the case. I can't recall what Config menu has the volume options, but I'll look on my way home from work.

We have experienced exactly that on more than one occasion. My wife and then I each had this happen to us. I believe it is a software bug.

Of course, I forgot to look at my console on the way home last night, and this morning. I'll try to remember this evening.

    Default Radio Volume Not Working

Has anyone else noticed that sometimes the radio volume does not work?

It appears that the Volt audio system has three different volume modes:

    1. Audio Cue Volume (adjusts volume of Whoosh sound when vehicle is started etc)
    2. Audio Speech Volume (adjusts volume of Navigation speech etc.)
    3. Radio Volume (adjusts volume of radio, CD, etc.)

Several times mine has gotten stuck in Audio Cue Volume mode and will not allow me to turn the radio up or down. The only way I have found to change the radio volume is to stop the car, turn the car off and then back on again. I have tried many other combinations of buttons and found no other way to get radio volume to work. Turning just the radio off and on does not work. Have to turn the whole car off and on.

    Jim,

I posted that very problem on Monday. Someone else replied and said they experienced that as well.

I tried turning the car off and on but it didn't help. Press the config button then select radio. Then select audio cue volume. Then just exit this screen. That's all it took for the volume control to return to normal. I tried to duplicate this problem by turning the volume know while the car is playing the startup or shutdown sounds. That does cause the audio cue volume to change but it reverts back to the radio volume a bit later. So I'm not sure what I (or you) did to get it stuck in that mode.

Issues like these are something that will be fixed via software updates, of course, but it would be nice to know when they're available so we can either get them via OnStar or head into a dealer for reprogramming.

Thanks for the answer Number719. Will try that next time it gets stuck. Sounds a lot easier than pulling off the road and rebooting the car.

I can confirm there IS a software revision up-coming for the NAV/radio unit to remedy various "resetting" issues.
If you are experiencing any issues with your radio, you can either let your dealer know so they can create an offical Technical Assistance Center (TAC) case- and they will automatically be informed when this new software becomes availble.
Otherwise I am keeping "tabs" on this update, and will post here once it becomes availabe.
In the meantime we apprecaite your patientience with respect to these minor radio annoyances.

LOL I'm VIN 954. Picked it up this weekend after the original deal fell through. I had no volume today on the drive home from my ipod touch. Display said that it was playing and could skip through songs. Tried ejecting the ipod a couple times and that didn't help. Ejected and powering off and on the ipod fixed it this time. I had an issue with an ipod video where the Volt wouldn't recognize the ipod video that was left plugged in when I started the car. This made me switch to the touch.
