    Default charge door

It's more of a personal problem than a car problem.

I had my volt for a week and still about half the time, I forget to close the charge door until the car reminds me after I start driving.

Gotta get myself into the habit of closing the charge port door immediately after disconnecting the charger. (before even hanging up the 240v Voltec charge handle or unplugging the 120v charger from the wall)

Yup I keep doing the same thing. Caught myself thinking...wouldn't it be nice if you could hit a button and it would close for you. Then I thought man you are lazy.

I still do it from time to time, good thing it's located on the driver's side front! Once you pull over and open the door you can simply reach in-between the door and the car and flip it closed.

just wondering...will the charge door not close with the wind when you get up to speed or is there too much resistance...

could maybe cause a needless accident if someone just remembers the open door and on the spur of the moment pulled over in an not so

safe spot just to close the door and got the door ripped off or worse..being hit....would be a shame .....just a thought..

Hah good to know I am not the only one. After 3 weeks I am now trained. Everyday I would unplug from the charger, sit myself down in the car, close the door and power up only to get the "Charge Door Open" message on the driver HUD. Then get out, close the driver door (tight space between the wall ), close the charge port door and finally be on my way.

Why do you need to train yourself? How is it different from pulling out the gas nozzle and closing the fuel door??? I would think it would be automatic to close the door when you pull out the connector.

Took me a few weeks to train myself as well. I generally would get a block from home before I saw the driver console message that the charge door is open, so I'd have to pull over, get out, and close it. Not sure why it's different from closing the gas door, but it is. Probably because (at least for me) I have to walk 10 feet away to place the charger cable back into its unit, so by the time I get back to the car I've forgotten about the charge port door.

Doubtful. There is a decent amount of resistance to it.
