Default who has good Volt repair shop in the DC area?

It looks like I need to take my Volt in to the shop
to handle a check engine code. I have no reason
to think the dealer from whom I purchased the
car is better or worse than anyone else. Does
anyone have a recommendation for an especially
competent service department in the DC area?

dude, everything is under warranty so you should take it to the dealer, or any other authorized volt dealer. no one has seen or serviced the car so i would definitely NOT take it to some random shop. why would you want to pay for a repair when anything that goes wrong with the car is covered by the warranty?

@faz, perhaps you misunderstand me but I'm asking for recommendations among the authorized GM shops.

I know that the repair shops at some GM dealers are some combination of incompenent and fraudelent (sometimes it's hard to distinguish the two) and I would like to avoid these if possible.

I think he was intending to take it to a dealer. At this point I would take it to the dealer who is most convenient. From other threads it appears that if it is a serious issue GM will be called in to consult, and will most likely send a factory field rep to get involved.

I would recommend Derek Selden at Sport Chevrolet in Silver Spring (240-560-5390; dselden@sportautomotive.com). He worked with the factory to solve a very subtle data transmission problem with my ZR1 last year.

I would suggest Criswell Chevrolet, they were involved in the test marketing of the Volt and have delivered a 1/2 dozen back in December / early January. Given the allocation of Volts I would expect that they have a good knowledgeable service staff.

ah, sorry i misunderstood. i would also recommend criswell. my volt had a bad TPMS and they replaced it relatively quickly, in about 1 hour.

Jim McKay Chevrolet in Fairfax VA has plenty of experience with Check Engine Light codes (from my Volt) if you are in Northern VA.

Don't go to Lindsay Chevrolet. Any place that is charging over MSRP has no reason to do so. They are crooks, and are trying to make extra money off of a car that is already expensive enough. Don't get me wrong; I <3 the Volt, and I don't want to be hatin' on anybody, but this isn't right. If you are willing to take the drive, Country Chevrolet in Warrenton, VA sounds good.
