Default Get rid of BLACK interior and Leather! It's TOO HOT in SW USA, reduces range

GM, the Black interior is a mistake for sunny southwest USA. Denver is EXTREMELY sunny and hot in the summer. black leather gets so hot it causes burns, and increases the load on the A/C, which decreases the range!

Please, tan cloth interior! This is likely enough of a problem that I will choose a Nissan Leaf. The good news is you can fix this in a matter of weeks; just make a light colored cloth interior an option!

If you don't understand why this matters, come out to denver and sit in black leather interior car that's been parked in the sun while wearing shorts. You will get a burn.

This is precisely why I chose the tan leather interior (and the silver shell). It's the most cost effective "Hi, I live in a semi arid hot climate" option available. Paying for miles with A/C just doesn't make sense.

I have previously asked for cloth to be an option for a fully loaded Volt (i.e. including heated seats).
In Denver, a light cloth option would be a good idea, but cloth is only available in black I think (and you won't likely need the heated seats).

Also some people object to leather for a variety of reasons (burns being a good reason) having dead animals in their cars is another reason.

I'm not sure why there is so much confusion on this issue. The Volt comes standard with cloth. If you want the premium interior option then you can get leather. I'm going with the most basic Volt because it is essentially out of my price range but it's time to walk the talk in regards to FF use.

Now, it may be true that you can't get heated seats with cloth but that's not surprising given the limited roll out of the Volt and the limited options (at this time).

Don't get rid of it. Just make other options available. I personally love black leather and ordered it for my car and I live in the South. No problem if you have a garage and park in parking decks alot like we do.

I ordered my Volt with the basic cloth interior. I have leather in my Subaru Outback and I've suffered from the extremes as nater has. However, in times of extreme cold, those seat heaters are pretty nice. I'm neutral about them, but my wife really likes them. In extreme heat, I drape a nice towel over the seat back and pinch it in place with the head rest. A little tacky maybe, but at least I don't get burned. I think the Volt will really heat up in the summer with its black roof, black seats and black dash. Mornings won't require any prestarts, but afternoons sure will. But my AER should be good!!

I think ceramic window tinting will solve your 'hot leather seat' concerns....

Why would this make you want to buy a Leaf? Why don't you just chose some other interior?
