The Volt's roof is black-painted steel. While I love the idea of a sunroof, there's not a lot of room to install one--only 42" front to back.

Plus the lack of headroom. Most sunroofs drop the headliner some for the mechanical stuff so that would make it even lower.

I suspect that a sunroof will negatively affect the overall Cd, and could knock a bit off the CD range, as well as reduce the already anemic CS fuel efficiency. (But Cd probably won't be as bad as the original concept design. B-)

Of course you could always try driving backwards, maybe that would improve the CD range after a sunroof is installed. LOL

Cliff P.S. I received a 3400 this morning on my Volt order . Can't wait to get it.
Um NO. The roof on a Volt is high strength steel painted black.

You need to discuss a sunroof with the BANK that owns your Volt. If you have an Ally lease... You need to ask Ally BEFORE you modify the car. The Dealer is NOT Ally. Your written contract is with the leasing company. Nobody else's opinion matters.

That looks FANTASTIC! And it doesn't look like much (if any) headroom is lost.

There's quite a bit of head room any way with the seat adjusted all of the way down. I'm 6'4" and have plenty of room. I don't think it would have been an issue for 99% of the folks out there.

But, yeah, that does look very well done. Very slick.

The Volt with sunroof in the Webasto catalog opens outward. Aside from the shade, it appears headroom won't be an issue. Closed, the Cd is the same as a normal Volt. You just have to carry more weight...
