Thread: Hello from the Chevy Volt team

  1. Default Hello from the Chevy Volt team

    Hello everyone,

I'm Doug Wernert from the Chevy Volt team. Some of you might know me as the community manager on http://www.chevroletvoltage.com and I just joined the GM-Volt forums. I'm here as another resource for you to answer your questions (if I don't know the answer, I'll work with our larger team to help you out), listen to your feedback and hear your stories. I read these forums all the time and love your passion for your cars.

Looking forward to chatting with you all more. Thanks!

    Doug,

I am 42 years old and until January 26, 2011, I had never bought a car from an American manufacturer. I have eagerly awaited a viable EV since 1989. And in that time I was always certain it would be a foreign manufacturer who would make such a car. What a happy surprise that the first practical EV is homegrown. I want to thank you and everyone at team Volt for getting it done, and getting it done so very well. For making it possible for me to buy American not out of some blind patriotic loyalty, but because doing so was the result of sound logic and economics.

    Welcome,

I am so glad to see you on this forum. My favorite part of getting a Volt is it’s like joining a community. Welcome to community. I have one question. Do you know when they will be offering tours at the plant? My Volt got built this week and would love to see the plant. I live in Lansing so it a short drive.

Doug, I would like to echo the above. I'm 43 and have never owned a Chevrolet/GM product. The Volt has brought me to you.

I am 70 and have never seen GM, or any other car manufacturer, take so much interest in their products or in the people that are buying these products. Congratulations to GM, to you Doug, and to all of our Volt advisors. I am very impressed.

Welcome from Volt #559. Haven't owned an American car since my father got me a used 1963 Chevy Impala SS convertible in 1967. Love driving the Volt (the feel of a premium sedan) as well as the political, environmental and possible economic advantages.

    Default E85 for the Volt?

    Doug,

What is the status of making the Volt run on E85? Any chance it will be available for the 2012 model year? I want to keep my gasoline consumption to a minimum. I am sure other Volt buyers want to also. There's an E85 station a few miles away from me here in San Jose, CA waiting for my business.

To those who think there's something wrong with buying an American car out of blind patriotic loyalty, it's OK. There's nothing wrong with patriotism. We need more of it, especially now. See the USA in your Chevrolet, not a Toyota or BMW.

    Bill
