This was happening to me for a while. I called OnStar, they had somebody on the Volt/OnStar technical team open a case, and those messages finally stopped. So tell them!

Posting on their forum will not get anything resolved for you. Call them!

I get billed more for electric usage during peak hours (5pm-8pm) so I have told my Volt not to charge during these times. I'm usually home by 3, plug in, and an hour later get the "charge interrupted" text. My car has the schedule, OnStar has the schedule, it's not an interruption, it's intentional!

I have delayed charge set to start at 9PM from October to April, and I usually plug in by 7pm. I never get an interrupted message in this situation. MY 2012.

    Hi folks,

As of today I am a proud owner of a 2012 Ampera. I am absolutely thrilled.

However I have a small problem.

I am in a friend's house as I picked the car from the capital.. some 300 miles away from my home. I have plugged in in his garage, but the car started honking some 5min after .. The handshake turned out all OK but.. I read about a way to reduce the amps taken during charge in the manual, but I couldn't find this feature in the menu.. help!
I think it might be due to his extension cord being weak, so I want to charge at lowest amps possible.. Now I am afraid to plug in as it is 3am and the barrage is right beneath the hours.. these honks should really be able to be turned off.

    Thx for any input.

Oh, now I read on the forum that the button should be on the charger itself, not on the menu.. obviously my manual relates to a 2013 model menu.. I will check it out tomorrow.

    Bulgarian,
Also, this thread is about the OnStar alert notifications, email or text message to the user. You are talking about the horn chirp for "Charge Power Loss Alert". (not sure exactly what they call it in the Ampera) It's in the vehicle settings.

Ignore it. It's a software bug of some sort. I get this everyday. I know the car should not even try to start charging for hours and i get a text/email warning within minutes..but sure enough, when the car starts to charge, all is okay.

Sorry, I'm reviving this. If I set to delayed charge I always get a 'Your Chevrolet Volt is not charging due to an interruption.'

Kind of ludicrous that a $40,000 state of the art space heater that also transports humans efficiently should have such an error un-repaired over a period of 3 years.

I called Onstar, (it's Sunday) they said GM customer service will give me a call within 48 hours.

    I'll be back.

edit: Upon reading another thread, http://gm-volt.com/forum/showthread....201#post214201 I wonder if the fact that I'm using a Duosida charger (or any 3rd party charger) matters...
