    Default AM radio

I listen to talk radio on am.
Does the electric drive train/system seem to have any deleterious effect on reception or quality of sound?

I am pretty sure Mr. Limbaugh's signal is jammed in the Volt?

Seriously, you guys, there are some country radio stations and some good news stations in our area that are on the AM band. I have no idea if the Volt reacts with AM signals.

The manual pg7-1 & 7-4a indicate an AM capability.

AM should be fine with the external antenna. No issues in the Prius. Regarding the radio, is it HD compatible and does it display RDS on FM?

It comes stock with AM, FM, and XM. It doesn't come with HD, but I don't know if it can be added aftermarket.

It does RDS (presuming the station does).

I tuned to several AM stations yesterday to check it out. I heard no issues at all in either CD or CS modes. With XM traffic updates, I won't need to listen to AM anymore. I'm just not sure yet if I'm going to re-up the XM subscription after the three month trial.

I'm sure you are going to love the "DVR" radio feature then!

    Timeshift function
The timeshift feature of the Volt audio system functions much like a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) for televisions. This “pause and play” feature lets you stop a live radio broadcast, record up to 20 minutes, and play it back later. So, if you missed the end of a football game while pumping gas or just want to hear a song again, this feature lets you do it. Content is stored on the embedded hard drive within the radio. Once you’ve recorded something, you can fast-forward and reverse playback as desired, just like a DVR.
