Or install a back-up light license frame (as suggested in another thread) like this one from V-LEDs.

    I transport this bike

on a hitch rack on my Subaru legacy and wonder about doing the same on my new Volt. Since the battery pack is removable I carry it separately, reducing the weight load on the rack considerably.

Nate - that's a brilliant idea. I'm going to move forward on that in a few weeks and get back to the group with pics.

I noticed the Saturn Sky (2007?) has a backup light similar to the Volt.

Draw-Tite makes a Sportframe hitch that fits the Sky - maybe it could be used with modification for the Volt???

I put a hitch on my Ford Fusion Hybrid, no problem. For the distance and amount of time I would have it on, it would not be a big impact for me.

It's understandable that they would do what they could to get the best fuel mileage out for the car, BUT, aren't most of the environment types outdoors people? Wouldn't it have been even cooler if they thought of this too and designed the most efficient car with a bike rack?

No, the Draw tite will not work. The muffler is in the way. One of the hitch manufacturer's (curt / drawtite / valley) will have something by christmas though.
