Thread: My Volt in my New York City garage

Default My Volt in my New York City garage

I brought my volt into New York City today. ~35 miles on EV and the remaining ~50 in extended range mode. I park my car in a garage next door to my apartment and the attendant was very interested in the car and even found a spot near an outlet so I could plug in for a charge.

Not the greatest photo (poor lighting and an equally poor camera phone) but I thought is was fun to see the car charging in a public city garage.

Agreed. I think i'll get a few "freebies" though, since I'm a monthly customer at the garage, the manager will probably not allow too many free recharges before he want to talk about $$.

Tell him you'll unplug your beer fridge! (about the same annual cost)

Tell him it's about a dollar or two per day at most, and if he wants to add that to your monthly expense (which would be on the order of something like $50/month, right?) then let him know you're going to start looking at other places to park.

    Love the red color!

Can you hear the horn from your residence if someone tries to remove the charge cable?

    Above all, Enjoy Your Volt!

Congrats. Nice decision on the red Volt.

My office parking garage manager and the hospital parking garage where I work both dont mind me plugging in. Commercial electric rates are much lower than residential.
