Smile SPX accepted my Voltec order today!

SPX called me this morning and took my order for a Voltec charging station. $490 plus local taxes, no installation. Credit card order, but I used a Visa debit card for 2010 payment credit. Email confirmation with their internal tracking number (no UPS/FedEx tracking number yet).

They say it will ship from their Chicago warehouse most likely today but within 48 hours for sure, standard ground transportation.

For info, I went to 3400 on 11/30, TPW 12/13/10 moved up from 1/3/11. Filled out SPX survey about three weeks ago, called last week and spoke to Amy there who said they're getting 140 Voltec units this week.

Yeah, I just got a call from them too, offering to sell me the charger. I declined

I filled out the SPX survey the day it opened.

I don't think you needed to go through the hoops of using your debit card. I would think the date of the credit card transaction (today) would count as the day you bought it.

SPX called my house and my wife relayed the message to me. I'm going to order just the charger, but I will be installing myself.

As Airton says, "Just get me my Volt!"

Anxiously awaiting delivery of my Silver Ice VIN#63!

Completed survery (twice), emailed many times, was told Voltec was Out of Stock. Contacted John, within hours, new email received from SPX saying "We have reserved a Voltec Charger for you to purchase if you choose. Due to limit quantity we request that you contact us so we can process your order.
If you have any questions/concerns please contact us."

Called and purchased for $490 plus tax --> $533.98 out the door. Explained to them that my Solar guy will be the electrician on the install. PG&E ready to approve/install 2nd meter once plans and permit pulled. 240V run(s) - might as well plan for the future so putting in 2 of them....plus taking advantage of the 50% Fed Tax Credit on the unit and installation - expiring on Dec 31st??

My Volt at 3800 (unit 282) - been there since the end of November. Will purchase (pay for it at the dealership) prior to Dec 31 using VIN# to do so to get the $7500 tax credit in CY2010.

Will my Solar-VOLT be under the tree? My Rice U Space Science Professor Uncle visits on the 19th.....would sure be nice to show it off to him. GO VOLT, GO GM, GO JOHN!!!! you are 'the man' - thanks for helping out once again!!!

We're very much thinking on similar lines. My solar goes in Monday. 5.5 KW system, REC panels with Enphase micro-inverters. With my typical driving pattern I'll be producing more electricity than the Volt consumes. Second SCE meter doesn't make sense for me yet, way too costly installation for the payback. I have enough space in the service panel for both the solar and EV charging station, so just going with single meter TOU rate plan. My TPW is 12/13 so no real hope for Volt delivery this year but may get the VIN.

As long as you have the VIN, you have the ability to consumate the sale and get your $7500 rebate in CY2010 tax year - not sure if that's your intent or not, but this is apparently possible without taking delivery - just need to 'take title'.

My system is a 5Kwh system as well - my mom has micro-inverters from Enphase and does well with them - I don't due to great consistent exposure for the entire series.

Here's the deal (if you have PG&E - not sure with the other utilities)....you have the ability to put in a 2nd meter (they supply for free) and you just have the electrician tie in to existing - it's called a Series (Subtractive) install and isn't costing me more than a couple hundred (the electrician's doing it at the same time he's installing the Voltec 240V charger (both for about $500).

PG&E will now separately monitor the EV electrical use and put the entire house on a E9B rate plan - which is very attractive for Solar, but not so much if you exceed baseline (which is a likely event if you didn't SuperSize your Solar install). By having 2 meters, PG&E gives you 2 baselines - which effectively means I can charge my new Volt at 4+cents per KW for the full baseline quantities (currently 11.9Kwh in winter and 19.2Kwh in the summer). This allows my Solar install to provide free electricity to my house and PG&E will pay at least 8 cents/Kwh for over production. Therefore, probable case is a zero or negative electric bill for the house and 4 cents to charge my Volt. Not installing the second meter would likely mean baseline overages (esp during the winter - low sun, high HVAC use) pushing the Volt cost (and the house as well upwards by at least 10 cents/Kwh or effectively 3X the base rate).

Do your DD on this one, I originally went for a single meter and E9A, but then found out a 2nd baseline was included if a second meter was installed. Good stuff.....GO VOLT, GO SOLAR, GO GM....cheers,

Ordered yesterday as it was released. Shipped last night, arrived this morning (shipped from Chicago to Chicago), installed this afternoon! Now I just need a car to plug it in to.
