    Default Interior Ambient LED lighting?

Lyle's post of standard features at http://gm-volt.com/2010/07/26/chevro...ard-equipment/ lists LED ambient lighting. Did this feature make it to production Volts?

Also, it looks like this feature list also says the daytime running lights are LED, and the normal/nighttime headlights are halogen. I know I heard the headlights aren't LED, but I'm not sure if that includes DRL.

LED headlights are being discussed over here, and WOT posted there that the DRLs are indeed low-power LEDs.

Thanks Chris, I missed the DRL LED confirmation., though I have been following that LED headlight discussion. My point in bringing up the LED headlights was more of trying to show a second datapoint to suggest that the list of standard options GM-Volt has may no longer be up to date due to more recent changes. Guess that throws out the second datapoint.

Any insight on the ambient lighting question? The engineer on my test drive said there wasn't any, but I don't think he really knew. I bet WOT knows.

Nope, no LED "ambient" lighting. For interior lighting there's a pair of dome lights, map lights, the lighted vanity mirrors in the sun-shades and of course the rear luggage compartment lamp. Ohh and the warm glow of that center stack display...

Thanks for the quick reply WOT. That's too bad, I was really looking forward to ambient LED's when I read about it in Lyle's feature post. I guess I'll have to settle for "just" having gas-free driving, sigh. (LOL)

That's a shame. My GF's 2009 Malibu LT1 has (some) ambient lighting... blue leds stashed here-and-there underneath the map lights, door grab handles, footwells, etc. It's a neat effect and probably doesn't add much cost or weight to the build.

EDIT: Of course, ClarksonCote is right, pretty lighting is not really the point here, is it

Yeah, I defintely would've loved some blue LED's... Ford has some models that let you toggle between various ambient lighting colors, but blue would be my favorite.

According to my order documents it does have LED lighting.

Listed under the standard equipment page:
    - lighting, interior, ambient LED-based front reading lights, dome and cargo area lamp

Also they list the running lights as "Daytime running lights, LED illumination"

Anyone can change their incandescent bulbs with LEDs. My 1995 Regal has all of its interior and exterior lights (except the headlights) replaced with LEDs for years. Just do a web search and check prices. Make a list of the bulbs used in your car (use the Owner's manual). The LEDs will be brighter and a bit blue, but they will last longer and generate very little heat.
