Default Buying Voltec charger without installation - SPX not much help

Is there another outlet for the Voltec charger besides SPX, and has anyone been able to buy one? I do NOT want or need their installation. I just want to buy the charger. My home is already wired for the charger.

SPX shows the unit at $490, they claim in email that they will sell just the unit, but they have no way to order it without installation, and it looks like the gouge rate for that starts at well over $1K.

I'm outside of the free charger zipcode area so the Blink and Coulomb units are somewhat pricey.

Has anyone successfully purchased one of these chargers? If so, from what vendor and by what procedure? What about the Leviton or any other unit?

I just talked to SPX, they say they will sell just the charger if you have an electrician to install yourself. You still have to fill out the install info, but in remarks, say that you have your own licensed electrician. According to them, you should be able to have the charger in 2-3 weeks. We shall see!

I gave up with SPX today myself, just purchsed the EV2104 - CHARGE@HOME™ RESIDENTIAL CHARGING STATION the cost is $649 plus shipping, it costs more but has a few extra features...

SPX started shipping the Voltec charging stations today. Mine is already on the truck headed to Texas.

Did you have to fill out their installation form? How long did the process take? They refuse to take an order over the phone or via email. Any contact information there on someone willing to sell one?

I looked at that one, and the extra features are to me a big negative. See my earlier post here, specifically the part about making things way too complicated:

I did fill out the form and I was not getting much response so I got in touch with my Volt Advisor and they were able to get things going for me.

Actually I like the idea of having the Touchless RFID, encrypted key since I will be doing level 2 charging outside from my driveway and level 1 charging in the garage overnight.

The charger I want is the one that GM uses since I like the idea of not having to curl up the wire every day. Looks more simple to use. Anybody have an idea of who makes it and how to get one and if there is a rebate on it? Or if there is other manufacturers with similar cord set?

According to my Volt Adviser Jerry (aka VoltGuy) is receiving his EVSE now because he is way ahead of most of us in the order cue.
I have a TPW of 11/29 SPX says I will not eligible for the charger until late December early January (wow a different story every time) BTW goyogi that is not the Voltech unit that will ship it's a little different.

Anyway I will let you guys know how my install of the EV2104 goes next week and I will post some pics...
