Many of us will be driving our brand new Volt hundreds of miles right off the dealership lot. Does the owner's manual specify a break in procedure, such as keeping speed under some limit for the first 200 miles, etc.?

In the Starting and Operating section of the manual it states "NEW VEHICLE BREAK-IN Notice: The vehicle does not require a break-in period. Vehicle break-in is performed during manufacturing."
What that says to me is that no part of the vehicle is stressed enough during normal driving to affect the longevity.

Yeah, we'd heard that here about a month ago but it's nice to see it in print.
After I pick up my car in DC, I'm planning on spending 1-2 days in the days in the DC area (work and play) before I haul off to do the 600 mile drive back to Atlanta. So at least I'll be near my dealer if there's some sort of infant mortality situation.
2011 Volt #284, ordered 30-Jul-2010, built 30-Nov-2010, shipped 15-Dec-2010, delivery 22-Dec-2010, www.FirstVoltInGeorgia.com

Great topic as I was about to start a thread on it since I now have the manual (PDF) and wondered the question since I'll be picking it up in NY and driving back two days with it. I think the wife and I will visit NY for a couple days before we come back so that will bring a piece of mind with the infant morality point. Thanks guys.
Although it isn't required I would like to make a suggestion, I bought both my 96 and my 98 Corvette with museum delivery which involves picking up the car at the museum next to the factory and driving it home.
It was a great experience and I wanted to savor every moment by taking side roads home driving at slow speeds through towns.
I suggest that if you have the time take the back roads home and enjoy the scenery.
Whoops I am about to bring an old thread back to life. I had considered not posting but decided the topic may be of interest to someone so I am hitting reply
