Just got a note from my friend on the assembly line and my Volt is in the Body Shop.
Sorry to start a new thread, I will delete it later but I am so excited and I knew some of you that are 3000 and 3400 already will be excited also.

Excellent! So this means they are starting production a week earlier than we thought since there had been speculation about Nov.1. I'm on the 2nd round of dealer build allocations starting a month or so after the first round that your car is in. This gives me more hope that I could get my car in time for Christmas (and in time for 2010 tax year credits...).
Thanks for the update!
Congratulations VoltGuy!
You are one of the folks through whom I will be living vicariously for some time! Sad to say, I live in Wisconsin. :-[ Not to mention Wisconsin is not a Volt launch market. LOL
I am at code 3400 and that is the last code I will see until my Volt is actually rolling of the assembly line, hopefully on Friday.
I would give anything to be up there on that assembly line. If they said I could pay them a $1000 to be there I would do it. I wish I could drive my Volt home from Detroit. If Corvette owners can do this then why can't we.
My friend on the assembly line will give me daily reports on how my new car is doing. He will get to sit in it before I do and that is just wrong.

That's great news, because I am at 3400 too!
Congrats Jerry, and good observation on the 3400 code. For the record I'll note that you moved to 3400 status 6 days ago (per earlier post), so perhaps 3400 kicks in a week before actual assembly start. I'm scheduled for 3 weeks from now but hoping to move up.

I was asking about the VIN number and got this note back from Jeffery.
"The VIN will be assigned when the vehicle leaves the paint shop and is scheduled into the system for General Assembly. May take a few days."
This means to me they are not up to full speed (5 days to complete) on the line yet. Does anyone else have information on how "the line" works and can better explain what is going on?
Jerry
Keep us up to date on your cars progress. Any way your friend can take pictures or videos?
I am hoping for a picture or two as it comes through his workstation. I am not sure they allow that but I am going to ask.
