    Must be for the new BAS + system, hopefully GM will have some low cost hybrids again.

    No Herm, these are for the next gen 2-mode to appear on the up-cming Cadillac XTC
    The Gen2 BAS+ system (used in China only at this time) use a cylindrical cell I believe from LG

    Power becomes important as you decrease the size of the pack...say for a hybrid with a small AER and a small ICE. It's easier to get both energy and power from a large pack but that you typically have to choose one or the other when you get down to a lower number of cells.

    Higher power means that you could wire the pack for max. energy and still have the power of a series oriented configuration.

    So, any advances in energy capacity or power are welcomed IMO.

    Last I heard GM ordered 100k of these Hitachi packs for the coming BAS+ mild/medium hybrids, you have a link supporting the revival of the 2 Mode cars?
