    Default gm-volt forum issues

I hope this is a good place to put this thread.

Lyle, congrats on the forum upgrade!

One bit of immediate feedback: the bright green makes my eyes bleed, especially when looking at the forum home page. Can try you "desaturating" that? Currently you've got it at around 00CC00, make it more like 66CC66? Against the white background I promise it will still jump out as "green".

Second bit of feedback: the text flow around in-thread advertisements is busted. If there's an ad among the thread comments, the text of the comment gets shoved to the extreme right edge by a ton of whitespace. Firefox 3.6.10 on Windows XP.

One of the ads has been removed and the color has been changed.

We plan to continue to customize and build function into the forum and move it to a greater front page presence.

Lookin' good! It was the same old square ad we always see, though. But I'll let you know if I see that layout problem again.

There is of course a drawback to the forum having a higher profile on the front page: more people posting. Namely the "quality" posters that we see in the article comments every day. Do these people have nothing better to do than feed trolls and relitigate the obvious all day long? Thank god for A) the voting system there and B) eventually recognizing the users for whom I should brake my scroll and actually read -- herm, WOT, Tom M, CorvetteGuy and LeoK (for the dealer perspective), statik ...and that's about it! The Volt is only going to attract more and more attention (especially once the media blitz starts during the Series) and we're going to have an even higher proportion of yahoos in here. Oh boy

It has always been my goal to make GM-Volt the voice of the people. Instead of it always being me who writes the front page article, by importing the forum interface there we could get articles by many people, many perspectives.

Some may be way off but I'm sure many will be valuable, informative, and interesting.

    That's the hope anyway.
