    Default GM you FAIL!!!

    So GM MAY put out an Electric car by 2010???

    With sales of gas well over 4 dollars a gallon in some places and no end in sight, plus with hybrids flying off lots showing a desire for better mileage vehicles. GM is now telling us that "maybe" they will have a SINGLE all electric by 2010 it is shameful. Especially when you consider they had an all electric vehicle on the roads over 11 years ago that was getting close to 100 miles per charge when they decided to scrape the project and destroy all the vehicles.

    GM you should be ashamed of yourselves!

    I have never bought a car from an American car company in my entire life. However, I do believe in GM because of the information on this website and other automotive news outlets. I do believe they are going to deliver and will continue to deliver and even out-shine other car companies in the EV realm. So rather than dwell on the past and debate it, I prefer to be hopeful about the future and give GM a chance.

    I'm not sure if you noticed the mast head on this site. It's the GM-Volt site. It's an enthusiast site for the upcoming Chevy Volt. If you want to just tell the world that GM sucks, there are better places to do that where you are most likely to get lots of support for your position. Here are some places you could go and be in good company;

    Do you actually know what you are talking about or are you an armchair CEO. Anyway, I think GM is hiring. Why not get a job there, work your way up to CEO and change things? Seems simple to me. By how much confidence you have you should be in command in a year or so. Then you can pump out the Volt a few months after and we would all be ahead! If you don't... YOU fail.

    Hmm, GM is a MULTIBILLION dollar corporation you would think they would have a plan in place if gas prices went up.

    You might want read up on the history of GM before smarting off.

    Smarting off? Nice one. Of course they have plans. If you don't understand how things really work in the world and that there are literally thousands of things to consider regarding the impact of decisions then the solutions seem very easy. Why not become a CEO and learn what it's like before smarting off (first and last time I will ever use that).

    How can you bitch about GM getting one out in 2010 and they will be first?

    The EV1 failed because gas was cheap, global warming was not a big issue and the tech was just not there.

    Both Toyota and Honda killed thier programs too, btw.

    First off the tech was "there" in 1999 with Gen II of the EV1, sure it wasn't perfect, problems with fire during charging in some early vehicles and limited range in cold weather just to name a few. However that was almost 10 years ago. Imagine if they had continued to develop and refine it rather then scraping and vaulting almost all aspects of the project.

    I'm not saying Toyota or Honda are any better then GM. All I am saying is for a corporation the size of GM should have been working on this for the last 10 years. Its made even worse because of how badly they screwed up the EV1 project. I understand no vehicle company can design, engineer, test and produce a new vehicle overnight but come on, they are only now just talking about the possibility of having an all electric vehicle by 2010.

    It would be like one of us starting to plan for retirement 2 years before you retire, rather then 20-25 years earlier.
