    According to the article these are the facts:

    (1) Annual battery pack production in Smyrna (starting in 2012) 200,000
    (2) Annual Nissan Leaf vehicle production in Smyrna: 150,000
    (3) Number of battery modules in a Nissan Leaf: 48
    (4) Number of cells per module: 4
    (5) Weight of pack: 300 kilograms (660 pounds)
    (6) Amount of lithium in the pack: 4 grams
    (7) Weight of the Nissan Leaf: Approx. 3,500 pounds
    (8) Amount of DOE loan for new facility and retooling: $1.4 billion
    (9) Anticipated number of jobs created: 1,300

    So the Leaf is the same weight as the Volt. However, the Volt has a 110 KW motor vs 80 Kw for the Leaf which gives the Volt a 37% advantage in the power to wt ratio.

    The lb/ Kw ratings for the Tesla Roadster, Tesla S, Volt and Leaf are:

    Roadster=12.6
    S =15.7
    Volt =31.8
    Leaf =43.8

    The Volt should be more fun to drive than the Leaf.
