I own a 1996 Ponitac Firebird Formula - This will be replaced by the Volt, yes I love my current car but I really look forward to *almost* never going to the gas station again.
In my household we also have a 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid, fully loaded. We all really love this car as it is great on gas, great performance, and fun to drive especially in small neighborhoods.
This list should make me stand alone. I'm sure nobody else will have this mix:
1959 Chevrolet Bel Air:
I've owned it since 1991 and I love it, but after 51 years it's about time for a car to retire. Will be replaced by the Volt.
1973 Corvette 454 Roadster:
I'll probably keep it. I bought it new. I've owned it for 35 years. I drive it about 800 miles a year. So gas cost isn't a big issue, even at 14 MPG.
2004 Chevy Colorado crew cab:
Well, it's still not paid for. It's our daily driver and we use the truck function a lot. I'll most likely keep it because I need a truck sometimes, but the Volt will become the daily driver.
1999 Rexhall Motor Home (Ford V-10):
I'd sell this today except my better half won't hear of it. So it currently keeps my driveway from floating off into space. It hasn't been moved since February. Maybe I'll rent out the bed to a homeless family.
Daily driver is a 2003 Grand Am GT 30th Anniv. ~32mpg with some careful accereration and speed control. 120K trouble free miles so far.
Wife drives a 1998 Olds Aurora. Awesome car. Our family of 4 fits perfectly with all the stuff and it gets 29mpg on the highway loaded down with the AC running. Can't complain.
Also have a 1996 Blazer for camping purposes.
I have a 1971 Corvette I have owned for 25 years. Doesn't see the road much though. But I wax it a lot.
Also have a 1968 Jeep Gladiator pickup. Ugly as sin and 10 mpg on a good day. But I would never give it up.
I used to drive a 1990 Beretta GT yellow indy version. Put 259,000 miles on that car before I gave it away. It only let me sit once (freeze plugs rusted out). A great car.
its great you have the Vette from new. Not too many can say that with that vintage. The 454 was a monster. Mine is the 300hp 350. Nothing too exciting, but I wish it was a stick. The Vette was my daily driver from 1983-1988. It was a blast in the snow!
No intention to ever sell the Vette either. It's hard to sell one of those once you've had it a while.
Courted my wife with it, , now I have to keep it until the kids are away so we can drive around together in it again.
Actually, I'm hoping to get a chance to escort my daughter in it in the high school parades. Too many Mustangs around here, we need some Vettes in the show.
'94 Altima (hand me down from dad) and '00 Forester. Both cars get about 22 city 28 highway. Probably looking to get a Jetta TDI next year to replace the Altima and a Volt when the 2nd generation comes out...
