It looks like Opel was just sold to Magna International Inc., a Canadian auto-industry supplier, and Russia's Sberbank (posted on Sun, Sep. 13, 2009)

Germans seem happy that the Opel factories will remain open, and GM seems to retain 35% of Opel. GM had almost decided against selling Opel because it was too worried about Russians gaining access to the fuel-efficient technologies its German engineers had developed.
Is it true the Ampera is still going forward ?
There is still over a years worth of engineering left on the Volt - is Ampera going to move forward in a different direction, or just get the results from GM ?
It seems very confusing with all the different "owners" involved. So Russian bank executives are now privy to all the Volt engineering advancements ?
I wish Volkswagen Group (owner of Audi) had bought Opel, and made the Ampera an all-aluminum chassis and body![]()
