    Default Level 2 under $300

Thought this looked good, seemed a lot higher when I was shopping.

    Then I found even cheaper:

    Prices coming down...

You get what ypu pay for. This is made in China. Many on this forum are fans of Clipper Creek, made in America. Your choice: save a few bucks or be patriotic.

Numerous threads on that particular EVSE. In fact, some members have claimed to get about a 50% discount ordering through the manufacturer/supplier.

With the volt, the stock evse does the job for a $20 adapter. Having assembled an open evse kit, there is not much in them. A relay and a control board with a couple of current sense rings. A lot of the cost is in the cable to handle the high current loads.

Please note this is not for the Gen 1 EVSE except perhaps in the later 2015 units. There is a post about internal mods required for '13+ Gen 1s, and not possible on the '11 and '12 EVSE.

I bought this EVSE and would not recommend it. Within a few months, the cable between the charging house and the car plug developed a break or crimp internally rendering it all but useless. The main issue is that the cable is very rigid and the flexing from rolling up the cable eventually took its toll.

As of right now, I am using the OEM EVSE plugged into 120v. I might consider picking up the adapter so I can plug it into my 240v line.

Is there any kind of manufacturer's warranty? I know my bosch had a 3 year warranty. Alas I paid way too much for my L2 EVSE as I made that purchase before becoming a member of this forum.

I was all gung ho on getting a level two when I bought the Volt but after owning it for a while I find the level 1 works fine for me.
Still think about one off and on. I might actually go two places in the same day...some day.

My Clipper Creek LCS-25 cost me a little more over 4 years ago, it has serviced 3 Volts (two simultaneously for 18 months) without an issue. It looks BRAND NEW. And made in the USA with REAL customer service.

If it were me I'd want the best EVSE charging my $40K+ EV.

My Clipper Creek LCS-20 is about 2.5 years old and also looks brand new and zero issues.
