    Default CT6 PHEV Mode survey - CadillacCollective.com

I am a part of the 'Cadillac Collective' group. I guess it is some sort of consumer focus group. (How Borg-like!)

Anyway, they sent me a survey today to name their new 'mode' for the CT6. What they are doing is making a 4th mode that charges the battery to full SOC while driving. This is in addition to Tour, Sport and Hold.

Some of the names they asked us to rank are: Charge, Battery Charge, Regenerate, etc. There were like 5 or 6 and you could rank your top 3. They also asked for suggestions so...

I told them to call it 'Super Charge' to mess with Tesla!! Lol.

I also asked them to give me a way to charge from gas in the parking lot at work. That way I don't have to listen to the engine running.

Yet another reason not to buy a 2017.

Pretty interesting! While I'd be all for something clever, there's already an existing theme, Tour, Sport and Hold, so it should probably be a single word...Can't think of a better choice than "Recharge" mode or "EV-Recharge" which I don't like as much...

Dear GM, thanks for offering ACC on the Volt, now let's give it 7.2kW charging & a garage door opener...

    Hold+
    Hold & Charge
    ChargeUp

I wish they had this feature for the volt/ELR. It's just a small software mod to kind of do mountain mode until full, though I could see a better way, make it hold mode with just a little more RPM, and any regen causes the hold line to move up and not dig back into the battery. This would eliminate the harshness of mountain mode as MM recharges the battery as quickly as possible. When the time comes to get another car, I'll definitely be comparing the CT6 PHEV to the Model S to whatever else is out there.

    How about 'Self-Charge'

    Fillup
    Topoff
    Full EV Regen

It is possible to charge a volt in MM all the way up, but it takes a lot of button pressing and manual regeneration.

Guessing it doesn't need a 'mountain mode'. What would be nice is a 'variable hold' - where you could set the desired hold level at whatever percentage you select in a menu. You could set the menu to 100% (or whatever) and the engine would charge it to, and maintain it at, that level.

Charge and Recharge seem like the obvious choices.

Given what we know about the system architecture, I'm struggling to see when and how this actually makes any sense.

I guess it can give you a better experience in a later stop and go segment in exchange for more total fuel consumed.

Was thinking the same and I wouldn't be surprised if this trickles down to the Volt...Will depend on the numbers, the EPA highway mpg of the CT6 PHEV is 29, the question is, what is the mpg hit and how fast does it take to gain one EV mile in this mode? It seems like it's perfect for the people who burn through their EV range, drive on the highway at least until the EV range is back then use the EV range off the highway because they hate ICE...Yet, if you hate ICE and value EV miles, why not just buy a Tesla? Unlike the Volt or even Bolt, the PHEV CT6 is priced like a Tesla...

The ad copy writes itself: "While your chauffeur is waiting for you to finish your important business appointment, he can thoughtfully charge up the traction battery. Then you are whisked away in quiet electric comfort." Seems like a natural fit for a livery vehicle.
